Sandy Korobey writes, "I would like to recognize a hero. Our mailman came to my door a few weeks ago and told me that the gentleman across the street had not gotten his mail for 4 days. I have known him for 30 plus years and knew something was wrong. I then called a good friend and we went over pounded pounded with no sign of him. We tried for 15 minutes to get in and we just couldn't get in so it was decided to break out the window and climb through the window and there he was on the bathroom floor he had had a stroke for 4 days. He is a 93-year-old man and he lived because our mailman saved his life! I would love to see this man get the recognition that he's so well deserves. He certainly is a hero he is mailman for 1701 Mascoutah ave Belleville Avenue in Belleville. Thank you!"

On November 12,2024, the House passed the Social Security Fairness Act, to repeal the wind fall elimination provision (WEP) and the government pension offset (GPO), with overwhelming bipartisan support, 327-75. This was a historic milestone! WEP and GPO have caused substantial financial hardship for millions of public servants-federal workers, teachers, police officers and firefighters-by reducing or eliminating the Social Security benefits they earned through years of dedicated service.
Next step is passing S-597, contact your Senators today and urge them to bring the Social Security Fairness Act to the floor for a vote before the end of this year.
